The Collaborative Direct
The Collaborative Direct is an AmeriCorps program that launched within
the Center for Service and Learning in Fall 2018.The Collaborative Direct
program supports retention of at-risk, post secondary students in one
academic year by giving them a foundation to move towards graduation in four
years. Additionally, this program promotes engagement, increased academic
performance, and community building to help ensure college completion. The program also provides students with
long-term service opportunities within West Virginia University and the broader
Morgantown community. With many partners like WVU’s Center for Learning,
Advising, and Student Success, National Center of Excellence in Women's Health,
and Appalachian Prison Book Project, members can align their interests or
career paths to their year of service.
As an AmeriCorps member with the Direct Collaborative you will serve 300 hours while earning an education award of $1,250 that can be used towards tuition or student loans. Starting in August 2019, members will have a year to complete the necessary hours. Not only will you have the opportunity to serve your community and fellow students through service, you'll also have access to professional development opportunities, training, and a support network through AmeriCorps and West Virginia University. This opportunity is open to any WVU student, regardless of campus.
