Catherine Whitworth, MPA
Catherine Whitworth is the Community Partner Program Coordinator for the WVU Center for Service and Learning. Catherine brings more than 30 years of experience in human services, training, civic engagement, and public health. She develops and sustains partnerships with non-profit organizations that provide a diverse range of opportunities for students to learn through community engagement.
Catherine holds a Master of Public Policy from Rutgers University. Prior to joining the CSL, she worked with the WV Prevention Research Center on strategies to reduce tobacco use in WV. Catherine recently spearheaded a series of “Non-Profit CommUnity Roundtable” gatherings where non-profit professionals can socialize, share, and learn together. She provided substantial leadership that led to Monongalia County’s passage of a smoke free air law. Earlier, Catherine served as an Environmental Educator with the Peace Corps in Guatemala.
Catherine lives in Morgantown with her husband, Steve DiFazio who is a professor in the WVU Biology Department. They still actively parent their own two college students but as recent empty nesters, they enjoy more community work and hosting international exchange visitors.
